AGENT STEEL Pays Tribute To RONNIE JAMES DIO, JUDAS PRIEST At Hollywood Concert (Video)
June 8, 2011California metal veterans AGENT STEEL paid tribute to legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio by performing a medley of "Children Of The Sea" (BLACK SABBATH),"Last In Line" (DIO) and "Stand Up And Shout" (DIO) on June 7 at the House of Blues in Hollywood. They also closed out their set with a cover version of JUDAS PRIEST's "The Ripper".
Video footage of the performance can be seen below.
AGENT STEEL recently released a new song, "Tomb Of Ra", featuring lead vocalist Rick Mythiasin (STEEL PROPHET). The track was recorded and engineered by Bill Metoyer and mixed and mastered by Bernie Versailles.
AGENT STEEL canceled its reunion performance with singer John Cyriis at the 14th annual Keep It True festival which took place April 29-30, 2011 at Tauberfrankenhalle in Lauda-Knigshofen, Germany. AGENT STEEL guitarist Juan Garcia subsequently released a statement in which he blasted "false rumors in the press" that Rick Mythiasin was the new singer of AGENT STEEL, insisting that Rick simply "filled in" for John Cyriis at the inaugural 70,000 Tons Of Metal cruise and "did a tremendous job."
He added, "When we reunited with original vocalist John Cyriis for Thrash Domination 2010 in Japan, our intention was that as long as things were moving in a positive working direction that we would forge ahead and perform reunion shows in 2011. As of now, we have reached the inevitable fork in the road; having worked unimaginably hard into making this recent reunion a solid reality, a difficult situation has turned much more complicated which has forced the cancellation of AGENT STEEL at the Keep It True festival in Germany."
Cyriis appeared on AGENT STEEL's first three releases "Skeptics Apocalypse" (1985),"Mad Locust Rising" (1985) and "Unstoppable Force" (1987).
AGENT STEEL's fifth album, "Alienigma", was issued by Mascot Records on August 31, 2007.
